Mr. Downs,

If  it  were  not  for you, I’d  be  going to some  obscure  school  in  Eastern Pennsylvania.  Thank  you for introducing  me  to  the  college  of  my dreams,  and  for writing  the recommendation.

So, going  to  Harvard  huh?  Must  be nice!  You  think  you’re  better  than me,  don’t  you , Downs?  Well, you’d better  rush  with  your PhD, or  I’ll  see you  there  in  couple  years.

Dr. DiBianca

If I knew why I’m going to college, and what “thank you” really means, and what is the nature of letters of recommendation, I would thank you for helping me get into the college of my dreams. But after taking TOK, the only thing I know for sure is:

Cottlestone, cottlestone, cottlestone pie
A fly can’t bird, but a bird can fly!

Thank you anyway, Pavlo

The recommendation you wrote for me, decreased the entropy of my application, and making it more orderly, helped me to get into the college of my dreams.

Thank you so much, Pavlo

So I take it that writing my recommendation required less time than going on a hike with me… Don’t you worry though, I’ll be waiting for you at Middlebury to go hike, so you better stay in shape and watch your knees.

Thank you Mr. McGaughan, for the lunch dates that got me talking and the recommendations that got me into the college of my dreams.

Mrs. Baccash:

Here are some statistics:

H0 : Middlebury is the best!

Accept  H0 at 100%  c-level.

Correlation between Pavlo going to Middlebury and Mrs. Baccash teaching him and writing his recommendation: R=1.

Thank you, Pavlo

As Socrates said (and then Plato, and then probably some other wise folks did, although I am not quite sure about Pooh): “All I know is that I know nothing”. It took me these four great years at NA to come to similar conclusion. Dear NA, thank you for bringing me closer to understanding this, while bearing with my handwriting all along and patiently trying to understand what I say, whenever those rare moments happened that I did. Thank you also for providing the means to and encouraging me to excel in my favorite subject areas, and allowing so much freedom in choosing the academic path I wanted to take.

Mr. Downs,

You promised to burn down Princeton if they did not accept me. Well, it’s still there! But please don’t do it now. Let’s be nice to these professors, at least until they reject me next year!

Thank you very much for writing me a recommendation, especially when you say it is your masterpiece. I like it even without reading it. It’s a rare opportunity to be a subject of a masterpiece.
